On Saturday 28th May 2016, a selection of children from school played in the Church-town and District football gala. We entered two teams which both competed in the usual Garstang CP manner, competitive but with fairness and team spirit at heart.

The ‘A’ Team qualified as winners of their group, and faced St Mary and St Michael’s in the Semi Final. It was a closely contested match with some great football on show by both teams. Lucas (Y6) scored the winning goal of the match, sending the team into the final.

The ‘B’ team also qualified as winners of their group, meaning they would face St Thomas’ ‘A’. They proved too strong for us in the end, eventually falling to a 3-0 defeat. Their heads never went down and they continued to enjooy the football which they played.

In the final, our ‘A’ team played against St Thomas ‘A’. In an exact repeat of the earlier semi final, they eventually fell to a 3-0 defeat, which was harsh in the end. Both teams can be group of their performances, and we are sure that they will see success in the future.
