About Our School

The school is a Group 2 Community Primary which caters for pupils between the ages of 4 and 11 years.

It opened on 1st May 1969 and since that date has continued to serve the growing area. Eight spacious classrooms with linked resource areas provide flexible and versatile working areas.

The total school site is in excess of 7 acres and the children enjoy large playground areas and spacious playing fields. The majority of children live within Garstang but some travel from surrounding rural areas.

In accordance with the LEA Early Admissions policy, pupils are admitted in September of the year of their fifth birthday. A comprehensive pre-school programme ensures that parents and pupils are fully involved in these early encounters with school life. The standard number is 30 in KS1 and KS2. Current legislation requires a maximum class size of 30 in Foundation Stage and KS1.

At the age of 11 the majority of pupils transfer to Garstang High School but there are a number of alternatives ranging from aided and independent high schools to single sex Grant Maintained schools. Details of Secondary Transfer options and application procedures are discussed with parents prior to transfer.
