The school football season began for Garstang Community Primary on Tuesday 6th October 2015, with a closely contested fixture vs Garstang St Thomas’
The game was end to end from the first minute to the last, with both teams exchanging shots on goal. Christian (Y6) scored an amazing volley to send CP to half time with a one goal advantage. St Thomas’ came out fighting in the second half and looked determined to equalise, eventually doing so through a well-worked team goal. 5 minutes later St Thomas’ went 2-1 ahead with another finely crafted team goal.
Christian, buoyed by his earlier strike, had a shot from half way which the St Thomas’ keeper could only parry out into the centre of the box. Ellis (Y5) was there to tap the ball into the empty net, levelling the score a 2-2.
The game was a credit to youth football and was played in a fantastic spirit. A 2-2 draw was definitely a fair result. Well done to the players from both teams for their amazing performances and attitudes.
