Ash Class had a great time this morning, meeting Bob and his two owls – a snowy owl and a great horned owl. We found out all about how they live and are adapted to their surroundings. Did you know that owls with dark eyes are nocturnal (active at night) and owls with orange eyes are diurnal (active during the day)? If you look closely at our photos you might be able to spot when these two owls are active!
We also found out that they have a translucent third eyelid that protects their eyes from their prey when they are eating it. This was a great link to our light and shadow topic that we are currently studying.
We can’t wait to use all our information and vocabulary when we write our calligram poems over the next few weeks.
