We had a fabulous day with Dr Catherine Parker Heath learning all about archaeology and the huge period of history from the Stone Age to the Iron Age.
We learnt how to ask questions and make inferences from looking at rubbish.
We learnt about how objects generally get older the further down you dig; we looked at specific artifacts and answered questions about what we thought they were for and who used them and we put together pottery jigsaw pieces to help us learn about the job of an archaeologist.
We excavated trenches, found artifacts and identified them. We used all our information to decide which part of history our trench was from.
We used our information to make mini museums.
In the afternoon, we made neolithic clay pots, tried weaving fabric, made stone age bracelets, made arrows and made our own barley flour.
